We have
exciting news for you! As you know, your Advantage Health Plan Trust
offers coverage for certain over-the-counter medications. AHPT is enhancing
its OTC offering for its members. What does this mean for you? It means
that medications which were previously available at a $5 co-pay, will
now be offered at $0 co-pay! The following over-the counter medications
are available under this benefit:
- Zantac
75, Tagamet HB, Axid AR and Pepcid AC;
- Prilosec
OTC (14, 28 and 42 day supply) when used as the legend version or
Prilosec or Omeprazole which are available only by prescription; and
- Claritin/D
/ Loratadine/D (when used in lieu of Allegra, Zyrtec or Clarinex with
approval of the Cover Person's Physician).
- Zyrtec®(cetirizine)
and Zyrtec-D 12 Hour®(cetirizine/pseudoephedrine)
In addition,
Advantage Health Plans Trust, in consultation with pharmacy benefit
management, may add other medications previously available only with
a prescription which become available as an over-the-counter medication.
Remember,
OTC medications do not legally require a prescription, but to have OTC
medications covered under your prescription drug benefit plan, you must
obtain a written prescription from your doctor and present it to a pharmacist
to be filled.
This document
